One of downtown Bryan's signature events: November First Friday becomes a Día de los Muertos celebration, with community altars, giant Catrina and Catrín puppets, folkloric and Matachines dance, a costume showcase, live music, and vendors along Main Street. On the first Friday of every month, Historic Downtown Bryan turns its streets into a stage, and November is no exception. From 5 to 10, expect live music, performances, art demonstrations, local artists and vendors, and shops and restaurants staying open late. It's been a downtown tradition since 2005 and remains free and family-friendly. Park free at the Roy Kelly Garage, or ride the free shuttle from Texas A&M's Memorial Student Center, which starts at 6 and runs every 30 minutes.

Railroad history fans have a full Saturday ahead at The Kimbell. The Texas Rails 2026 Symposium brings a day of talks, including Ken Stavinoha's Railroad Scenes from Texas, Dennis Hogan on the Houston & Texas Central, Ken Fitzgerald on his years as a paid railroad photographer, and Bruce Blalock on the MKT Texas Central Branch. Doors open at 9:30, talks run 10 to 4 with a lunch break, and admission is $20 at the door, free for ages 16 and under.
DeGallery hosts its monthly First Saturday Art Market, a relaxed way to meet local artists and artisans, including members of the Visual Arts Society. Browse handmade work and crafts outside, then step into the gallery to see the art on its walls. There's live music too, and the whole event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public from 11 to 4. It's a nice chance to buy directly from Brazos Valley makers as holiday shopping season gets underway.
Book lovers can spend a Saturday at KinderHill Brew Lab for the second annual Pints and Pages Book Fair. Hyperbole Bookstore and Voices For Children are partnering on the day, which combines a book fair with a vendor market from noon to 10. Admission is free, and 10 percent of beverage sales go to Voices For Children, so your afternoon pint supports a good cause. Come browse, pick up a few new reads, and enjoy KinderHill's outdoor space.
The Community Pain Network and DeGallery host Connect and Create, a free art therapy session for people living with chronic pain. The hour-long gathering, from 1 to 2, is designed to be beginner friendly, so no art experience is needed, and refreshments are provided. It's a gentle, supportive space to make something, connect with others who understand, and spend a little time in a working gallery. Please RSVP through the online form so the hosts can plan for you.
The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra performs a free outdoor concert, Illuminate, at Lake Walk as the sun sets over Lake Atlas. Seating opens at 4:30, the music runs from 5 to 7, and you're encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and settle in on the lawn. Paint-a-Palooza is a colorful community art day benefiting The Periwinkle Foundation and its Camp Periwinkle. Pick up a brush for community murals and vinyl painting, get your face painted, and enjoy live music, food trucks, vendors, and carnival games at Great Escapes RV Park on Leonard Road. This year adds a 5K Color Run. General admission is $19, $24 with the Color Run, and $12 for kids. It's a fun, hands-on way for families to support a good cause.

Southeast Texas duo Bottomland brings its southern rock with a country edge to The Palace Theater on a Friday night in November. Justin Gates and Cannon Brand started out as solo singer-songwriters, met on shared local bills, and began writing together. Now signed to Sony Music Nashville, they've passed 7.8 million streams with "Over You, Over It." Catch a rising Texas act up close on downtown's open-air stage from 7 to 10. Tickets are $35.
The Kimbell fills with one-of-a-kind tabletop trees decorated by local businesses and organizations for the Festival of Trees, a fundraiser for Voices for Children CASA of the Brazos Valley. Stop by between 1 and 5 to see the creativity on display, then bid in the online silent auction, which opens November 16. Final viewing and bidding happen at First Friday on December 4, with the auction closing at 8 that night. Viewing is free, and every bid helps local children.
Real Life Real Music presents Stella Sessions, an intimate singer-songwriter concert series held in the event space at The Stella Hotel near Lake Walk. This edition features Shawn Camp, and the hour-long set runs from 7 to 8 on a Monday evening, an easy way to start the week with live music. Dunstan Weed's wildly funny old-time melodrama, directed by Jennifer Hargis. The fiendish Cassius Carstairs pursues the pure Carlotta Flower while the audience is invited to hiss the villain and cheer the hero. Tongue firmly in cheek, it piles on every surefire melodrama situation for a happy piece of nonsense with laughs tumbling over each other. Performances run August 5–21. Spend Halloween with Bryan's own musicians at Embers of Kekri, a free, all-ages festival at Blackwater Draw Brewing Co. on North Main. Every act on the bill is local, playing back to back across three stages from late morning until 11 that night. The name comes from Kekri, an old Finnish festival marking the end of harvest and the start of winter's dark season, given a Halloween twist here. Come in costume, since there's a costume contest with prizes.

Lorefest 2026 closes with a final performance at The Kimbell on Halloween night. The Aggie Theatre Company presents a promenade-style show, where the audience moves through the space, built from stories in the Lorefest database that best represent the communities of Bryan and College Station. It's a fitting way to spend October 31: local tales, told live, in a downtown arts space. Admission is free, but seating is limited and conference attendees get priority, so arrive early.

This multidisciplinary exhibition brings together students, faculty, community members, and artists from Texas A&M University and beyond for an immersive, accessible exploration of bats through natural history specimens, large-format photography, pop-culture-inspired artwork, 3D skeletal models, and research-based narratives. The preview features art by local young artists instructed by art educator Le Ann Hale of the Purple Turtle Art Studio. The full exhibition runs October 9 through December 18 at the James R. George McConnell, associate professor in the Theatre program, hosts an evening of experimental performance material. The event connects to a May participatory performance event called “Anything At All,” in which eight artists from across the college created performance material for four audience members at a time in a 45-minute time limit, controlled by turning seven lamps on and off. The performance intentionally limited access by the number of audience members invited and the limitations on seeing all of the material within the time limits. Performers in this event include faculty (John Cartwright in Dance; Anna Holman in Performance and Visual Studies), staff (Lindsey Wente) and students in the Theatre program (JJ Stevenson, Anastasia Wall and Kate Bertagnoli). An opening reception for recent Texas A&M PVFA graduate Sydney Lemmon. A third-generation artist from Fort Collins, Colorado, Lemmon studied studio art and video game design at Texas A&M under Professor Felice House and spent four months painting in Florence, Italy. Cats in Hats explores the world of cats in little hats and the environments they inhabit — each subject carefully styled, capturing personality, humor, and perhaps a touch of discontent. The show also includes senior capstone work such as Evil Eyes and Mugged, paintings built on bold complementary underpaintings that catch the instant an emotion flashes through someone's eyes.

MonuMetal began in 2012 as a community fundraiser: local metal artists transforming industrial remnants into monumental public art auctioned to help save the Queen Theatre. In 2026 it returns — reforged. A weekend-long, family-friendly celebration of fire, steel, music, and community, featuring the MonuMetal found-object sculpture competition with large-scale works installed downtown and auctioned to support the artists and future programming, plus the return of the Steephollow Forgeworks Combo Demo in honor of Carlton Lee. With the Texas A&M Aggie Blacksmithing Club, smiths will forge a topographical map of Texas from hand-made nails made on site, auctioned after the festival.

Open Studio BCS presents Carve + Print, a two-night block printing workshop series at The Kimbell. Block printing is one of the oldest forms of printmaking — a simple, powerful technique used for centuries to make repeating patterns on textiles, paper, and books. Night One begins with a short history of block printing, including the rich tradition of Indian block-printed textiles, then guests sketch a design and learn to carve their own relief block. Night Two brings those blocks to life through hand printing. Guests may attend one night or both.

Author Miriam Rieck brings her Signature Series to The Kimbell for a book signing and reading. Over the course of one day, a community park magically moves through all four seasons as lives intersect and transform — a weary security guard desperate to get home to her children, a young mayor overwhelmed by responsibility, a nostalgic fisherman who can't seem to catch anything anymore. Bethel Park Falls is a story about resilience and about the irreplaceable role shared spaces play in holding communities together, themes at the heart of The Kimbell's own mission as a gathering place for the community.
