Be a Part of Art Step
THANK YOU for participating in Art Step on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM! We are excited to celebrate the artists, musicians, merchants, and creative energy that make Downtown Bryan such a special place. Art Step is designed as a progressive art tour, inviting visitors to stroll through downtown, discover new spaces, and connect directly with the artists who help shape our community.
What to expect
- Visitors will move from location to location throughout the afternoon.
- Every stop is unique — some guests may spend a few minutes with you, while others may stay and chat.
- We encourage visitors to explore ALL Art Step locations, so help send them on their way with enthusiasm and recommendations for the next stop.
This event is about connection, conversation, creativity, and community.
What to bring
- Your artwork and any display materials you need
- Table & tablecloths, easels, stands, business cards, or signage
- Water and snacks for yourself
- A chair if desired
- Any extension cords or power supplies you may need
- A positive attitude and willingness to engage with visitors
Set-up guide
- Art Step runs 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
- Please plan to arrive half an hour early (12:30 PM) to set up your display.
- When you arrive, check in with your venue host — let them know you are there to display for Art Step and they will have a designated spot for you.
Selling your work
Artists are welcome to sell their work during Art Step. Please note:
- Artists are responsible for their own point-of-sale system.
- Cash, Venmo, Square, PayPal, Zelle, or credit card readers are all great options.
- Please bring your own change, payment devices, and sales materials.
- Downtown Bryan Arts & Culture Association and participating merchants are not handling transactions on behalf of artists.
Talking about your art
Many guests may be meeting you for the first time. Consider sharing:
- What inspires your work
- Your artistic process
- How long you've been creating
- Why you create
- Whether you accept commissions
- Where people can find you after Art Step
People love hearing the story behind the work just as much as they enjoy seeing it.
Suggested talking points
Did you know… Art Step is where First Friday began?
Many people don't realize that Art Step was the original downtown art walk that eventually evolved into what we now know as First Friday. This event celebrates those roots and reconnects the community with the artists and creative spaces that helped shape Downtown Bryan.
Art happens here.
Downtown Bryan proudly says that we are a place where art and artists thrive. Art Step is one of the ways we actively live out that mission by creating opportunities for artists, musicians, makers, and creative entrepreneurs to connect directly with the public.
Encourage visitors to see every stop. Art Step is meant to be experienced as a journey. Invite guests to explore the entire district, discover new artists, listen to live music, and experience the unique character of each location.
Support local. Downtown Bryan thrives because artists, musicians, merchants, restaurants, and neighbors all show up for one another. Thank you for being part of that story.
After party
We still hope to gather after Art Step to celebrate the day together, potentially at Blackwater Draw or the Parker Astin Arts Center. Location and timing are still being finalized — watch the Art Step Facebook event page for updates!
