The Queen's Film Society and Texas A&M University's Performance and Visual Studies Program present Art & Film / Film as Art, an exhibition exploring the two-way relationship between motion pictures and the visual fine arts. Original works inspired by cinema by 13 acclaimed artists are exhibited on the ground floor of the Kimbell; upstairs, reproductions of celebrated works by Goya, Caravaggio, Böcklin, and Millais are displayed alongside images from the films they inspired. Curated by art historian Kris Belden-Adams and film studies scholar Daniel Humphrey. Exhibiting artists: Beast Syndicate, Joshua Brinlee, Shawn Campbell, Lauren Cardenas, Matthew Flores, Alex Garza, Lauren O'Connor-Korb, Cameron Savage, Jamie M. Speck, John A. Speck, Kaleena Staziak, Joel Zika and Jeff Morris, and F. C. Zuke. Closing reception Thursday, Sept 24.
